6 month insurance contract?

Hello,

Anyone with an insurer recommendation that would insure my boat during the off-season (Nov 1 - April 30) All insurers I have talked to so far want to insure my boat for a full year.

Thanks.

I would suggest Cross Insurance Skip Heald in Maine 207 785-4636. If Skip can't write the coverage he is good and helping you find someone who can. R Gilkey

Re: 6 month insurance contract?

Is the boat in the US or out of the country? If in the country, north or south? IS it staying in the water for personal use or on the hard for the winter?

that is likely what all insurers will want. They don't want to be hassled with what changed from "their" period of coverage on the use with another carrier and a different period and use.

Most charter policies are "priced" to recognize the seasons. Best of luck

Can't the charter company extend coverage and you pay it? Layup periods in policies are not required, they simply reduce premiums.

Re: 6 month insurance contract?

Zoya,
My boat is also in a charter fleet and covered by my policy through the charter companies plan. I assume that you are paying for the plan even though it is through the charter company ( in some way anyway). I also would assume that the boat is insured year around with a lay up clause of some sort. In the Great Lakes we do have lay up clauses because the water gets a little to hard in the winter.

I would be surprised if the company covering the liabilities on the charter would not have a way to decrement the policy for owners use only in the off season, unless they are adamant from a liability standpoint about lay up off season.
