Morro? Monterey? Pismo? Weekend on the hook.

As a relocated trailer sailor and currently non livaboard I am looking forward to a weekend on the hook. The lake levels are terrible here in CA this time of year (ie millerton)or kinda cold (think Huntington Lake) I am headed to the coast for the weekend and am looking for suggestions. I am coming from the central valley, so am leaning toward Morro Bay, but would love to hear suggestions.

Hope everyone is doing well,
Q

Q,

The last time we went down the coast in that area was back in 04 so my data may not be current.

You could anchor out in Monterey, or jump into one of the marinas. In Morrow bay, it's on a mooring as the current runs fast there. But they have a GREAT restaurant called "Windows on the Water". We loved it. The yacht club is where you get the mooring and they have a GREAT clubhouse. The bar is actually a sailboat cut in half!

Don't know much about Pismo as we passed it by. You can read about what we said about the area in our "position Reports" on our web pages at;
Guenevere's Position Reports top page

Scroll down the page to the area you are interested in.

And, HAVE FUN!!! Nice sailing there.

Greg

You may try Avila Beach (Port San Luis Obispo). Pretty cool place to anchor, for a fee, or for free in between the beach pier and the oil pier (as in oil company). A little rolly, but not bad. Beautiful area and beach town. Pismo Beach is right down the road, but no anchoring areas there.

This is a little farther to drive, but here are lots of great anchorages here in the SF bay.

May be more feasible for a long weekend though, depending on how long it would take to drive here and back.
