Commuting from Annpolis to DC Area

I would love to hear from anyone out there who is commuting from Annapolis to the Falls Churh/Vienna/McLean area.

What is the typical length of your commute?

What is the best route to take?

My husband and I are thinking about moving to Annapolis, and we will be working in the DC Area.

I appreciate the input.

Thanks,
Helen

I only travel on weekends, but the time from Edgewater, MD to Herndon, VA is 70 minutes. I''m usually passing through DC after 25 to 30 minutes.

I usually take Rte. 50 to NE-SW hwy, to 295, to 395, to Rte. 110, to I-66, to the Dulles Toll Rd., to FFX Pky, to Herndon. I sometimes take the outer-loop of I-495 if there are major activities going on in DC. That way adds about 3 miles or about 5 minutes.

It really depends on what time of the day you are going to try to make the commute, but 45-50 minutes is my typical commute from Shady Side (just south of Annapolis) to Greenbelt. However, it can be 60-75 minutes at rush hour.

Learn the backways to avoid the beltway back ups. Good luck, I love the Annapolis area. It is a sailors paradise.

Helen,

Please email me with your email address. I know half a dozen people who make that commute and will let them tell you their experiences directly.
