I''m in the middle of a refit of a ''65 Chris Craft Capri 30 designed by S&S and I''m interested in hearing any and all details or experiences that others have had with this particular boat. Thanks

I don’t own a Chris Craft 30’, but I did a lot of research on the boat as there was one a few hours away for sale at a great price, and I was very intrigued by it.

Awesome boats, from everything I could find on them!

S&S design, centerboard, and probably overbuilt as well, considering the maker and the vintage.

Would love to hear your thoughts on the boat.

Hi Bob,
I found my boat in Oklahoma on lake of the Cherokee. I''ve stripped the bottom to the glass and found only one blister after almost 40 years. It is an excellent boat and very well built. I''ve done a considerable amount of work to her. Things like aluminum toe rails, all new portholes, five coats of epoxy & two coats of antifouling paint, new winches, new radios (VHS & SSB), new life raft, rebuilt plumbing, wind generator, new battery charger, battery isolators, new voltage regulator & alternator, new bilge pumps, Thru-hulls, manual windlass (has electric windlass), additional ground tackle, rebuilt the Dwyer dinghy and many other items. Currently I have a Hobie16’, but used to own a 35’ custom steel sailboat, based on a Charles Whitholtz design.
I liked the boat because it was overbuilt to a ridiculous degree, but it sailed like a fat pig!
I like the CC 30’ for the; centerboard; the designer(s) and builder.
It would seem like a perfect cruising boat as they are affordable, well built and seem to have adequate room.
What are your future sailing plans with the boat?
Would love to see some pics if possible.
