Water temp sensors, gauges

After a recent re-powering, I seem to have an incompatible water temp sender and gauge. Buying a new set would be an easy fix, but the sender, as a practical matter, is almost inaccessible. The sender for the high temp alarm/light, however, is very accessible. Question: Does anyone make a sender that will operate both temp readout and alarm buzzer/light, and will fit the 5/8" hole in my engine? Q#2: What are the odds on these items not being compatible? Do the manufacturers work to some standard or generally only match up their own products? Neither item in my case has any mfr''s name, number or pedigree. I''d very much appreciate any helpful comments.

E, I''d encourage you to present your question to the folks at TransAtlantic Diesel (www.tadiesels.com). They seem to be a very knowledgeable outfit, and no doubt have or can get what you need, if it exists.

Thanks, I''ll try them. Understand, I have tried several sources, including the marine repair shop that did the work, and distributors of the engine in three states, as well as several web sites. I''ll let you know how I make out. Thanks again.
