Two questions:
1/ Were the coordinates right in the first place? I hear that many of the
charts people use are actually based on British Admiralty
Charts from the 1800''s.
2. If you''re within 100 feet of an island, shouldn''t you be able to see it, and avoid it? Corrections will be made, if needed, to software packages showing where things are. In the meantime,
GPS will still show you where YOU are. If you''re approaching anything, even New York City, which hasn''t moved much recently, you still need to be alert and on watch. If you''re navigating in the dark with your eyes only on the
GPS, please let the rest of us know when you are coming so we can avoid you.
