re: Missing endangered man on sailboat Florida

He has mentally deteriorated over the past few weeks and has stated he has no reason to live. This is why he is listed as a missing endangered person.

Folks, I've deleted the references to the closed court case.. I don't think it's germane here, lets focus on trying to find and help this fellow sailor.

Good luck Caroline. I hope they are able to find him and that he gets the help he needs.

We'll say a prayer for him Caroline - and you too. Hang in there.

Have faith, Caroline. If there is one thing that has always made me better, mental health wise, it has been going to sea.

re: Missing endangered man on sailboat Florida

I've heard of sailors actually anchoring out in the gulf. I sailed from Pensacola to Key West a couple years ago, and the depth in some areas is only about 75 feet. In calmer conditions, one could anchor when tired and needing sleep. It took me 6 days because of light winds.

re: Missing endangered man on sailboat Florida

If someone does not want to be found, there are a lot of places to hide a boat in NW Florida. If he took the ICW, it would take days just to transit it to its 'end" at Carabelle before open water. Then numerous very isolated places to hide in the Big Bend with almost no people.

GREETINGS EARTHLINGS, A sliped fan/alternator belt would cause the battery not to charge and threrfore no comminucations ( back in the eighties we had cabutator failure and no engine and no power for the radio) CG had to walk 6 miles to talk to us and ask if we where OK? Gosh could he use a beer. Do not worry untill about week and half boat loaded with water and food ?

I'm located on the west coast of Florida. Weather has been mild with winds out of the south southeast for the time period Involved. If he tried sailing it, the wind was right on his nose almost all the time. A front is coming in Monday night and the wind will go to the north.

Hope that helps. He's probably one frustrated sailor bobbing around out there.
