Re: Missing endangered man on sailboat Florida

For someone in a sailboat, in this area, this time of year, I really think no news, is probably good news. There is a lot of commercial traffic, air and vessel, as well as government surveillance, in this area that would more likely than not, spot something like a drifting sailboat pretty fast.

If you haven't already done so, I'd think about faxing that flyer down to all of the municipal and private harbors along the Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida gulf coast.

Re: Missing endangered man on sailboat Florida

I meet Roy a few times as my boat is next to his. I had just moved it to that marina recently. I hope this allturns out good.

I have been checking this thread daily, hoping to find that all is well, but now a month has passed and still no new information.

Just to keep a perspective on it, over 100,000 adults and 500,000 minors are reported missing in the US every year, and if you add up ten years of that...there's a lot of folks who have decided to walk away.

Re: Missing endangered man on sailboat Florida

I just spent 5 days in Pensacola and I am very sad to report there is no sign of him, he has not contacted me or anyone else. It was a horrible emotional journey for me - he knew I was coming for his birthday. Many agencies have contacted me and I had the opportunity to speak to more face to face while I was there. I am sad to report there is no sign of him or the boat or the dog, no indication of a direction he may have gone so as it stands he is simply gone.

He leaves behind a wife who loves him & misses him, a step son who loves him and asks every day if I've heard anything.

Thank you for all the positive and supportive comments.

Re: Missing endangered man on sailboat Florida

Sweet, there is no reason to believe he is truly lost at sea - he has a very sturdy boat, he is an experienced sailor, the weather was not bad, there is no report of an abandoned boat. And he would not have left his dog to the elements if he wanted to quit his life. All indications are that he is just gone on a walkabout, or rather sailabout. Men do that sometimes. It does not mean he does not love you or that he does not care. He just found himself in a tight spot in life and is coping with it in his own way. Eventually he will turn up and will pick up his land life again. Don't ever give up.

Re: Missing endangered man on sailboat Florida

Hang in there. It sounds like he is very resourceful and a good sailor. As others have said, it sounds more like he just doesn't want to be found right now. Hopefully he will snap out of his funk one of these days and come back into your life.

BTW, you're welcome to hang out here. We appreciate the updates, but that doesn't have to be the only reason you come back.
