Emergency Locator Transmitters

I have in the past been involved in looking for missing aircraft. Often, when a crash occured, it would set off an emergency locator transmitter (ELT) on VHF freqency 121.5, UHF 243 and later 406. Now, twenty+ years later, I am taking up sailing and see things like EPIRB''s and PLB''s and see that they are transmitting to the same series of satellites on the same frequencies. These are great for finding lost aircraft using direction finding equipment but I had to be trained and had to practice occasionally to keep my skills sharp. Is there anybody here who has the equipment for practice on the practice freq of 121.6? Is there anyone here who thinks this would be a good thing to get together and practice? I am positive we could con the coast guard into helping out.
