Globalstar Coverage

I am considering purchasing a Globalstar Satelite phone and would like to hear experience with Globalstar offshore, in Bermuda and the Caribbean.

Mike, I''d suggest you look at some of the recent threads on the SSCA BB - http://ssca.org/sscabb/index.php You''ll find first-hand reports on use in the Caribbean.

One thumb rule I keep hearing, over and over, is that Globalstar is never as cheap in practice as it appears to be.

Perhaps I''ve misunderstood or am not current, but I would not expect Globalstar to work in Bermuda. Have you checked their advertised footprint?

I´ve been using it in Aruba, boniare and right now in Margarita, its good for downloading noaa charts, kinda slow, Iwas charged extra for calling an Aruba # from aruba, in Venz I am roaming$$$, other than that no other extra charges but we still have 6 months to go back to FL so we will see.
I bought it in desperation in the PR after this sea-tech weather fax package totally failed us, but I must say it feels good to think I can call the Coastguard from my liferaft if ever needed
