Did anyone here go through ebay when buying a boat or what do you think of the whole thing?

I found my boat on Ebay but I would not conduct the actual sale transaction through ebay; typically sellers set terms that are not conducive to a good sale (no provision for a sale contingent upon a survey; even if the boat is local typically the bidding period does not allow time to look the boat over carefully, do a sea trial if it''s in the water, etc.). If you see something you like, either email the seller and tell them you are a serious prospect but are not willing to conduct the transaction through ebay; or if it''s a boat that''s not a hot seller, wait until bidding is closed (and the reserve has not been met) and contact seller and tell them you saw the boat, noticed they did not get any serious offers, and tell them you are seriously considering their boat and ask when you can take a look at it.
