Re: Pete Seeger died today

A VERY weak apology for supporting the murder of 60 million ppl. He continued to support left dictatorships around thew world IN SPITE of their murderous records.

This is all I will say on this topic as I think it should be taken to a political forum. I'll let others have the last say.

Well you are the one who turned it political. I was simply stating that a popular sailor died. You make it sound like none of the right wing supported dictators killed people. I would like to see it continue on a path of discussing a sailor's passing and not have it be turned into a political debate.

The world is a smaller place without him.
I am sure that the angles will soon be playing the banjo.

Re: Pete Seeger died today

Hey, it took till post number six before someone starting trashing the man's politics, I was expecting it sooner. Froggy, if you want to get your dander up about someone supporting murderous dictators, I suggest you start with Ronald Reagan before you start beating up folk singers.

Fair winds, Mr. Seeger.

Re: Pete Seeger died today

He came out of the Great Depression wanting a greater share the wealth of your great country, for poor fellow Americans.
He fought a succession of governments at war, without killing anyone.
Wasn't it he who wrote,
"sailing away, the canvas can do miracles. Just you wait and see."

Yes, it will always be a special treat to seen CLEARWATER under sail in NY Harbor, or further north upon the river... The Hudson River Valley is without question a more beautiful place, in no small measure thanks to his ardent environmental activism...

Damn, I just hope The Kenyan doesn't make any reference to the late Fellow Traveler in his SOTU speech tonight, that's bound to make some folks' heads explode... :-)

Warning Warning .....

Always a shame to see a musical legend pass on. Also hardly surprising to see poor taste comments as per Frogwatch's. Hardly surprising but typically mean spirited.

That said. Any further political comments in this thread will be deleted. Multiple infractions may well result in holidays.

If you have a problem with that by all means start a thread in PRWG, PM me or shoosh.

Salute to you Pete S.
