Are the e-mail lists dead?

Lots of folks closed out their Sailnet ones and moved over to Sailjazz. That''s what the Pearson list did anyway. I cancelled all my Sailnet email lists so can''t vouch for what is happening with them, but the Sailjazz lists are busy as ever.

I have also noticed that you can''t access member information any longer. I was talking with someone who seemed knowledgeable about the whole Sailnet implosion and he indicated that he understood that and effort is being made to market the webpage and message boards as a viable asset and that the webpages are being kept up to hopefully maintain their value as an asset. While I have no first hand knowledge of this information, at some level it made sense to me.

The list server, which handles the email list, has been down since Marinenet (Sailnet''s prior owners) went belly up. We, LLC, have had control of the Sailnet servers for a little less than a week at this point. We anticipate having the list server back up no later than Nov. 11. Sailnet forums, lists, email services, etc. are free unlike those found at Sailjazz. We will be reinvigorating Sailnet with the help of our community over the coming months. We would ask all interested members to, in the short run to contact us via our "Contact Us" link (at the bottom of our blurb on the homepage). We are interested in your thoughts and suggestions as to what we can do to make Sailnet the best resource for sailors on the web.
