Sailing songs for the guitar

I was wandering id there are other guitar players out there that might have some good songs to share? Songs that could be song by guest and not too dificult to play on the guitar, using basic cording like
E,A,D,G,F,C and minors as well.
I know the Buffet list and some eagles.
Some suggestions would be great. Maybe some reels?

Thanks

Re: Sailing songs for the guitar

Silly question, arguably the best "nautical" classic rock song you can play, and stupid easy to play as well.
CSNY - "Southern Cross"
Southern Cross Chords by Crosby Stills And Nash @ Ultimate-Guitar.Com

Buffet = Nautical wheelers (used to sing this one to my daughter for late night bottle duty, my voice stinks, but she wasn't real critical at that age either). Nautical Wheelers Chords by Jimmy Buffett @ Ultimate-Guitar.Com I love it, cause it's a waltz, just something about a waltz.

Eagles = great do share.

Gee...so many it's hard to call 'em up from memory.
Mebbe lookup Gordon Lightfoot's "Ghosts of Cape Horn" or "Christian Island"?
So many others, it's hard ta get a grip on any, right off the top...'cept CSN's "Southern Cross".
I never found Buffet's tunes easy ta replicate solo ?! So's I started penning my own ditties
Looks like some in-depth research is on order._

Leo Kottke's "Sailor's Grave On the Prairie". One of his easiest and fun to play, but it is in the open G tuning and uses a slide...oh well, scratch that one. Leo's arrangement of "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" is also fun and relatively easy (relative to "Jack Fig", Airproofing, and others).

God gave us solo fingerstyle artists to emulate for those of us who should refrane from singing...

Re: Sailing songs for the guitar

Buffett tunes are easy - just 3 or 4 chords at most. Very few minors, mostly a C, F, G progression. His list of songs, though is massive - probably 300 to 400 at least.

"Sail" - AWOL Nation.

(Actually it's best on the ukulele.)

Re: Sailing songs for the guitar

I like playing many of Buffet's songs and others... I like Jack Johnson's style of music and it's tropical/Caribbean styles...

Jack Johnson- The Horizon has been defeated

David Gray - Sail Away

These songs are great when I'm with friends... I keep my Cordoba guitar at all times with me... take it out at any time and play... even in the office!

Gary you play piano and so do I, do you also play the guitar too?
