Welcome aboard, Sepotaqc - there isn't really much of a newcomers section.....but this is a great place to read, ask questions, learn, and enjoy the discussion.

So, tell us how you came to be a Sailnet member and what are kind of sailing you're interested in?

Try the Learning to Sail forum.

Or just ask questions.

Toyota Corolla of sailboats? Catalina 30. Hands down.
If you wanted the Ford Tempo of sailboats, that would be a Grampian 26.
The PT Cruiser of sailboats? Bayfield 29

We are in Montreal.

You might consider taking some lessons. Here is a list of Quebec schools.

Sail Canada Member's Area

You might try the one at the very bottom.

You might have a look at www dot sailquest dot com for a nice compendium of some more common classic plastic boats that are particular to your neck of the woods. And, as has been said on this list before by those more knowledgeable than I, 30ft is probably a little big to learn how to sail. A Tanzer 22 would be a Corolla in my books.

Re: Beginner section

Tanzer 22- ford escort of boats.
Siren- fiat 500 of boats.
Optimist- Smart Car of boats.
