RNLI's latest lifeboat

The new Shannon class lifeboat, 25kt jetboat. Amazing bit of kit and quite a unique docking procedure!

Not bad for a volunteer/charity funded lifeboat organisation.

Re: RNLI's latest lifeboat

And it goes back in the water just as easily, how? Why, just by rewinding the tape, of course.

Re: RNLI's latest lifeboat

It has a clever trailer, picks it up, spins it round and drops it back in the water. Great way of getting the boat recovered safely in bad conditions. Most of the lifeboat stations in the UK are on the beach and the boats are either towed to the sea, or launched straight down a ramp. If you're ever over in the UK, the lifeboat station in your area is always worth a visit. Great bunch of folks and unlike the US Coast Guard, they don't consider themselves as either military or enforcement, they exist only to save lives.
