The storm surge was over 15 feet in some places. It did not arrive as a tidal wave event, it was more of a gradual and steady rising over a course of about 4 to 5 hours.
You warmer clime sailors may have your share of hurricanes and floods, but last wiinter we had more snow than I could bear. This was the scene when I opened the back door one morning, to let the dog out:
