should I be offended?

I have learned that my Hinterhoeller is a pretty rare bird but when a fellow on my dock asked yesterday if it was a Cape Dory I was not sure if I should be offended or pleased. Whatcha think?

Re: should I be offended?

Neither. Dock walkers always want to start a conversation about your boat. That's why they are dock walkers.

Jeanneau 54DS

In the harsh marine environment, something is always in need of repair. Margaritas fix everything.

CDs are the VW bug of sailing.. everybody knows what they are even if they have never seen one. It is just typical to a non-sailor that anything that looks remotely "traditional" might be a Cape Dory.

I am expecting to hear it a lot.. my boat is also an Alberg

Your boat looks nothing like a Cape Dory.. Guy was probably just clueless about the classics and CD is probably the only "traditional" boat he knows the name of....??

Especially since Carl Alberg designed most of the Cape Dory's.

Be pleased. Somebody found your boat interesting enough to ask about.
