Re: Fire ! / Heat Damage

I stopped by the yard last Saturday as I dropped my son off at a party in Chelsea. I did not see your boat but there is not much left of Sweet Bubbaloo at all! I think it is amazing that this did not spread to more boats. Kind of sad as I was thinking of making a low ball offer on her this spring. Whites has had a tough year so far.

Re: Fire ! / Heat Damage

Paul ...Nepenthe is in the middle of the "island" of boats in the middle of the marina. They moved Sweet Bubbaloo off to the side. My bow faces north and my stern is hidden by a large sailboat perpendicular to me on my south.

Cause of fire has not yet been determined. They haven't ruled out arson or accident. I'm told there are 3 arson investigation teams involved. Accident could be kids partying on the boat and accidental ignition(?) Sweet Bubbaloo was one of the few boats on premises that was not covered and was not locked.

Fire Dept did a great job!

My boat is just down river from you in Nyack, if you need a sailing fix.
Caleb ... thanks for the offer! I just may take you up on it if you are serious ... even just to meet up. My SO lives in Suffern and we are in Nyack often.

Re: Fire ! / Heat Damage

my uncle´s eleanor used to be hauled in whites every winter. in summer, uncle phil´s mooring was the 3rd mooring from hudson on the catskill creek.
a different friend now anchors there when he can, as tribute to the eleanor.
look up the eleanor in the registry of historic treasures... she is there as of 1982. shehad repairs effected there and was a regular occupant, 1952-1998
good memories and goood folks. i hope they are still around when i finally get to hudson river.
is sad to read bad news about that marina as it is a good place run by good folks.
