Re: A phone call you don't want to receive

I had my Saving Private Ryan moment once when I got call from the Highway Patrol asking for Mr. (my last name) and telling me my wife Linda had been in a car wreck. I asked "Is she okay?" and the trooper, "She's okay and so is your baby."

At that point, I asked, "Where did she get a baby?

"I don't know

"Well what car was she in?"

"A white BMW 528."

"That's our car, but whose baby did she have?"

"She acted like it was her baby."

"Her baby?"

"Yeah, her baby, but he's okay, too."

"She had a baby with her?"

It went on like that for a few minutes until he called me John. And, then it hit me. Mistaken identity, but strangely, an acquaintance of mine with a very similar name in the same job. And, our wives drove the exact same color and model car and both had the same first name.

Clearance is to low steel. Usually the lights hang down below that level.
