Dinghy Registration

Am I correct in assuming that an eight-foot Walker Bay dinghy has to be registered in the state of Maryland?

I believe that it has to be registered if it is propelled by machinery. Also, you must have proof that the state sale tax was paid when you bought it. If you don't have proof, the State of MD will allow you to pay it again; to them

I know that a boat under 16 feet with a motor less than 7.5 HP does not have to pay the registration fee but has to be registered. I just didn't know if there was a further breakdown below, say, 10 feet. I know all about the sales tax issue.

They're on sale now for $700 (normally $750). If I buy it in Delaware, I will save the $35 tax and only pay it once.
