Advice sought on south Florida older boat insurance

Looks like we're finally moving to south florida soon, specifically the West Palm Beach/Jupiter areas.

We're in the market for a late 80's to early 90's boat, about 40' and non-liveaboard. We have to keep it put in the marina during hurricane season, due to work obligations.

I have three questions:

1. One online boat insurer told us that that it won't insure Florida boats of that vintage. Is this the case with most carriers?

2. Will it matter if we 'import' and buy a boat from New England versus a boat that's been sitting in the Florida soup?

3. Will keeping the boat in Jupiter or slightly north gain us better insurance rates?
We don't wish to travel real far to get to our boat.

Thanks for your input.

Re: Advice sought on south Florida older boat insurance

Check with IMIS [In Baltimore] My boat is 35 at this time, I started with them in 04. The co. I'm with, with them requires a survey every 5 yrs. now. That being said The boat was 24 yrs young when I started, which was 1 yr from cut off.
