Cruising w/ dog

My wife & I are planning our first extended cruise exploring the Chesapeake. We are planning to take our VERY active two year old female boxer mix dog along. She needs to get off the boat & run, etc. at least twice a day. Anyone have experience w/ dog friendly anchorages?
We will be leaving from Rock Hall and heading South. Thanks for any input & advise.
