My wife gave me an Amazon Kindle for my birthday. I deliver boats for a living and it is the coolest thing for readers. I can keep up to 200 books on a device that is about the size of a trade paperback. It does not require an internet connection either. Most books, including current bestsellers are $9.99. Some are less and some occassionally free.

On a non-nautical note, I really enjoyed Neil Gaiman's "Stardust." Anybody else read that one?

Yeah, she rocks. I hope to follow in her footsteps and we even talk about rounding the Horn together ( insanity runs in the family too ).

I'm the first one in my family to get in to sailing. I am getting my daughters involved though, so I think the sport will become a family tradition. I have brought my father on some cruises (before I got married), we used to do it with me, him and my nephews (dubbed "all boys weekend"). Sailing is such a great family sport.
