Glad to see Slocum finally made the list. It was interesting reading Chichester's account following Slocum's. Motissier is next on my list.

A well organized collection of first hand accounts of vessels lost at sea. Different causes are grouped together. It contains intense descriptions at times.

This is good background and motivation for managing the risks on your own vessel.

High Performance Sailing, by Frank Bethwaite. Will change the way you think about wind.

Seconded on Don Street's Ocean Sailing Yacht, although they're getting dated and his enthusiasm for wooden boats borders on insanity...

I just read "A Voyage for Madmen" by Nichols. It was a very sobering read, a real eye-opener.

I just read “Ghost Sea” by Fereng Mate, great book taking place in the Pacific Northwest about a century ago. I highly recommend it. I have on order The Wicked Trade : Jan Needle , Tamata and the Alliance : Bernard Moitessier , A Fine Boy for Killing : Jan Needle, and An Embarrassment Of Mangoes : Ann Vanderhoof I will let you know how it goes. I will see if I can order "Blue latitudes"
