WaterDancer is on a distinguished road
info needed on opening a biz on the islands

I'm interested in sailing down to the caribbean or the bahamas and opening a photography education workshop which will include a sail.

Does anyone know if one is allowed to open a biz down there? and if so, which islands are more likely than others to allow this?

thanks much.

Are you a licensed captain?

If you're planning on taking passengers out on a boat, for pay, whether it is for a sail, or for a photography trip, you need to have a commercial captain's license generally.

I'd also be a bit curious as to what your photography credentials are?

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

What's "the islands" ?

Each nation has their own rules. Many will not issue working permits for any aliens (that'd be you). Some will let you start a business, maybe as the majority owner, sole owner, or minority owner only.

Figure out what island you are insterested in, then contact their consulate and make a professional enquiry.

Regardless of where he is planning on opening his business, most will require some sort of licensing for a commercial boat operator AFAIK.
