Convert old Dolphin torches to LED?

Hi guys,

I've got a couple of old Eveready Dolphin torches lying around that are very stone age in comparison to the new led offerings. Before I bin them, I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to convert them to LED either with a kit or by knocking something up out of the bits and pieces. Wouldn't want to invest too much in the project, but it sure would be a shame to chuck out a couple of working torches. Cheers.

Search the internet for the size bulb you have, many sellers on ebay have searchable sites. I am replacing all lighting on my boat with led.

I would check the bulb number and either eBay, or DealExtreme ( will have replacement bulbs. Worth a try as it likely will only be a couple of bucks. But do check the voltage as well, there are a lot of Dolphin torches, so not sure what battery configuration you have. Might be worth a try, but often the beam does not work out well. I got a kit for an old AA mag light that has worked well, but it was cheap on clearance. (think I paid like $.20 for the Niteze kit)

I'd be quite surprised if Dolphin didn't have conversion kits all ready for you.
I even got conversion kit for my 35 year old Richie compass. It's all the rage these days.
