I just purchased a Sailboat in Atlantic Beach N.C. and need to get her home to Georgia.I will be bringing my sailboat trailer that i hope she will fit on.Does anyone have any contacts in that area that can help me get her loaded up and on my way back to Georgia.
A little more information would be helpful in getting the advice you are seeking. What exactly do you need? What kind and size is the sailboat? What does it weigh? Is it in the water now or on land? Is it in a marina or on someone's private property? Is what you need simply a ramp or do you need a lift? Or is the help you want just a strong back and willing hands?
There are lots of boat ramps in the area, and lots of marinas in the area (Atlantic Beach, Morehead City, Beaufort).
Wouldn't the seller or seller's representative have some thoughts as to where and how to get it loaded?
Is your trailer going to fit? Most sailboats have rounded hulls and you will need supports and bunks which match the curvature so as to distribute the load and avoid over stressing the hull. How do you intend to temporarily modify or adjust the trailer to fit the boat? Is the trailer capacity sufficient for that boat?
Hello, and thanks for your reply,The sailboat is a 20 ft PSC and 6000 lbs. She's in the water at the Morehead/Atlantic city bridge area in a neglected state, and wont start.I just found out that there is a place a couple miles away on the ICW called Russels Yachts that has a lift and a work yard.I have a trailer that (from what im told)was for a Norsea 27,so im thinking it should hold the weight to haul her home.Just got off the phone with the boat owner and the yard, and it seams there is a plan coming together.Im Heading now to get fresh tires put on the trailer.Im thinking im gonna need someone to pull me to the lift, its @ 2 miles.....Thx George
Any chance that you are Sea Tow or Tow Boat US member? If so, you may be able to get boat towed as a part of membership services. Both companies operate in the area. Also, if Russell Yachts is going to pull and load the boat, they might be able to pick it up from it's current slip. Towing charges are frequently quite expensive, so make sure that part of price is finalized in advance. There is lots of boating in that area, and you might be able to find someone at a marina nearby that would be willing to tow you, but it would be better, since you are likely on a tight schedule, to arrange it in advance if possible. I don't have a boat in the area, so I can't assist in that regard. Maybe someone else can.
We called Sea tow,and they said that the towing coverage doesn't start until 30 days after signing up,so the guy im buying from just offered to cover the cost to have it towed to Russell Yachts, and i accepted Im thinking while its at the yard im going to have them pressure wash the boat, paint the bottom if needed, and check out the yanmar. If you or anyone in the area, stop by and help me check out the boat , we can grab some stakes on me....Thx George.

Back from Atlantic City.Left the Flicka and the trailer there at Russells Yachts to have some work done.Im really liking that area, and Russell is really cool. The tow ended up costing 300 bucks, but well worth it to get her somewhere safe.Probably head back up there in a couple of weeks to drag her back home to Georgia.....Thx George
