Smoke on the Water

Smoke on the Water.
Came across from SSI to Vancouver today. and experienced something new to me. Poor Visibility due to smoke. Didn't realize what it was at first. A light dusting of ash on the boat and a definite burning smell. Visibility was still a couple of miles so not a big deal but interesting

So notch up a new one for experience.

Re: Smoke on the Water

We woke to a heavy dusting of ash near Gibsons yesterday and thick smoke. Had a quick sail back to Vancouver in limited visibility but a good breeze with surprisingly flat seas considering how long the winds been up.

Still thick this morning in False Creek. Odd smelling like a campfire in the middle of the city.

Nearly 200 forest fires in BC, several fairly nearby. A bit scary with no end in sight to the heat and no rain expected either.

Re: Smoke on the Water

Once, sailing along the south, ocean coast of LI, I was almost choked by heavy smoke from brush fires out on the East End. Pretty weird.
