I do however use a fixed length line attached to one of my primary winches and the other end of the line has a loop in it and the loop is dropped over the first cleat going into the slip, one of the crew steps (does not jump) off the boat with the line. Works great. The end the crew steps off with has about an 8 foot extension on it to reach the shrouds for the crew to step off. Great for both experienced crew and new folks alike.
And if I have a problem such as wind off the pier or I just have a bit of a not quite perfect, having the correct length spring line to bring the boat to the pier really helps at times
but cute video that makes most folks chuckle a bit
