hf propagation

G'day,
We cruise the Coral Sea in the SW pacific.Louisiades this year.
We have friends on their boat in Spain. I'm trying to find an HF propagation map that will allow me to suggest some frequencies so that we may talk. Can someone help. Indeed just a few frequencies to use in the hours of darkness for both vessels would be good. Perhaps 0600 our time.
Thank you all
Lawrie

Lawrie:

Try this chart for Western Europe: http://hfradio.org/fot_7.html

The last line of the chart is for the South Pacific.

These charts are set up for each month of the year (propagation varies with season).

You'll need a really good antenna. Nothing beats a vertical dipole on a sailboat for DX work....much better than a backstay, inverted vee, or any other antenna you can rig because it has a very low vertical angle of radiation.

Good luck,
