Need info on sailing Indian Ocean
 

I am thinking about signing on as crew for a ship sailing from Thailand to the East Coast of Africa. I could use some advice from people who have sailed across the Indian Ocean.

The best advice is don''t do it. Piracy is alive and well in East Indies and Eastern Indian Ocean.

I don''t know if you''ve listened to any of the news in the past two weeks but I can probably predict with a high level of certainty that the fecal matter is going to hit the rotary oscillator in that part of the world soon. Sky diving without a parachute or swimming with man, or for that matter women eating crocodiles might be safer. Seems foolish to me.
