New Navy Ship

Zumwalt-class Navy ship: Next-gen destroyer is a high-tech marvel (pictures) - CNET

Not sure how I'm going to board that boat from my rib.

Maybe they have star-trek beaming technology.

The lesson from the Icarus story is not about human failing.
It is a lesson about the limitations of wax as an adhesive.
If you have an engineering problem solve it.

Re: New Navy Ship

I am friends with the head of the design team on that. The interesting thing to me is that the Zumwalt is composite and is not steel. She also appears to be nearly a planning hull.

Re: New Navy Ship

Where was the photo of the bridge? All I saw was a photo of the CIC. The phased array antenna group was pretty cool. Much better than the Omni directional "can" antenna I used to sell.

Looks more like a submarine than a boat.

Sorry, I was black shoe, not brown shoe so mistook the CIC for the bridge.

I wonder if Cap. Kirk's chair is there?????

Re: New Navy Ship

System has been cancelled.

Too costly, may not float.

All for only $ 3.5 billion each.

A terrible waste of OUR money and talent.

Re: New Navy Ship

Pretty hefty price tag, over 3.5 billion and counting.

Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.

Re: New Navy Ship

Jeff, what kind of composite? Long chain molecular silicon in a matrix of specialized crosslinked hydrocarbon molecules .not.
