Unhappy Oh here we go again "Ernesto"

Tropical storm Ernesto barring down on us...

Every time a storm comes our way it never stops to amaze me how unprepared everybody is. Wait to get gas as of 8 am this Monday morning was normal, 2 hr later the lines are around the block. All of the sudden everybody needs to buy a generator. Everybody has to fill there propane tank etc. etc. Maybe it's the same syndrome as, nobody buys a snow showel until the snow falls?
I hope this one miss, I haven't finished fixing the boat from the last one yet.
Last year when wilma hit, the 60' power cat. next to me had the clever idea of tying he's boat to a power pole.... yeah you can figure the outcome on this one. He ripped the pole and lines out, the cat swung a 180 and hit the ketch behind him, not to mention he was uninsured...
But can anybody explain after last years event's how can you not be somewhat prepared? And I'm not talking about groceries.

E.

Easy... people are stupid... they run around when the disaster is impending...then when it isn't, after a few weeks have passed...they forget all about it...and all the promises/plans they made when the last one hit.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
