there MIGHT be some kind of tag on it. Look around, especially where the engine is, or would be (transom) and inside the cockpit, etc. for some kind of tag riveted to the hull? things were not as controlled in 72, especially if the title says "special". It might be homebuilt...
Is it wood? fiberglass? steel? cement? How many hulls

I have a 1972 sailboat with a title that indicates "homemade". It's actually a Lido but many boats had no HIN back then so when titles became required, many owners, me included, skipped the formality of trying to find an original document of manufacture and wrote whatever on the title application that the state government would accept.

spcl is probably "special".

Do you know what the displacement, waterline, beam, length overall and draft are on this boat? Those stats will help narrow what boat it is quite a bit.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
