Maine Mooring/Slips?

Hi There,

I was wondering if any of you out there might recommend a good (and available) spot to moor my boat in Southern Maine (Portland to Kittery)?

I have tried several places, but there seem to be few openings!

Your help is greatly appreciated!
Chris

I would like to know of some myself. I'm sure KBport is out of the question. I think there is a marina in Cape Porpise, but i'm not sure if they have anything. It is a very beautiful spot though.

That is a beautiful little cove, but I found it to be a real "working harbor" and not particularly "cruisier friendly". I was cussed out while tied up to the gas dock once. The cruising guide and the sign on the door of the gas dock hut said they opened at 9:00am...an hour later...no one!I asked around and people familiar with the dock and the attendent said he kind of creates his own hours..."he may be in today....he might not be"!

While waiting, I heard a shout from my boat and a crew member of mine was being verbally assaulted by a lobsterman and his crew who needed to use the hoist that we were tied up below (no choice as there is no space at the gas dock that does not interfere with the lifts). Incidentatlly, sailboats need to use great caution when approaching the dock as your rigging can catch and foul on the hoist arms!

Anyway...as pretty as it was...I will not return there anytime soon.

Chris

Have you heard of Bailey Island? Beautiful, deep harbor due South of Brunswick.
There is a small yellow cottage at the mouth of the harbor that has a very large mooring ball. "the Lark"
