El Nino weather
Greetings. I am seeking information on the weather conditions prevailing in the south equatorial region between Galapagos and Marqesas during April,May and June of the last El Nino event. I'll explain:- I am planning a passage from the Caribbean to Tahiti in early '07. I have just been informed that it is shaping up to be a mild ENSO event. I have a seasonal job in the Caribbean and need to stay and work as long as possible. I have to balance this against possible diminishing/reversal of the trades the later in the year that I attempt the passage . Ideally I would like to access archives of GRIB files or weather faxes for these past periods through the internet. Can anyone advise me on how I might be able to do this?

Perma.. You might try asking Carib-weatherman Chris Parker about this and he might also be a good resource to have along on your trip. Try . He gets paid a pretty reasonable amount for his forcasts and routing advice but might be willing to at least point you in the direction of the grib.fax archives. You can also visit his personal site at or the caribe weather site or just catch up with him on the SSB any morning (times and Freq's are on the caribwx site.)
