Petter Diesel

Has anyone out there had any experience, good or bad, with the Lister-Petter Diesel Engines? Are parts hard to find? Are they easy or complicated to work on? We are considering a boat with one on board and have little experience with these little English Power Plants!

Any info on these would be greatly appreciated!
Many Thanks
Chris

Which motor is it?

The Lister-Petters had numerous other uses... truck refrigeration, construction, etc.... and there are likely to be a fair few of them around, here in the UK.

Lister tend to be reasonable for spare parts.

Check out the contacts....

I notice that they do not list marine engines at that current website, but they should support your old engine.

Petter

You know, I am not sure which model?

It is on a Contessa 26 that I am interested in. I am not sure if this is the Original engine (1977) or not? Any idea?

I have been to the web site but, as you wrote, they have very little information on the marine engines.

Chris

Scurvy:

Have you tried asking on the Contessa 26 site (The Contessa Corner)? You may find help there.

Hi Johnrb,

I have been to the websites but have not posed the question there. I have been in contact with a few Contessa owners who have been very helpful. Will try that tact though. Thanks for the suggestion!
