calling all sailboats on Lake Kentucky or Barkley

My wife and I are about to buy a 29' ericson to keep on either Kentucky Lake or Lake Barkley. I'm curious to find others to recommend a good marina. Also, if you keep your boat in the water year round, I'd like to discuss how you prepare your boat for winter. Naturally as new boat owners, we'd still like to be able to come up and stay on the boat for weekends during the next few months, but I'd worry about the fresh water tanks freezing, etc. Any help would be appreciated. We are looking forward to becoming part of the sailing community.

Thanks!

If you're worried about the fresh water tanks freezing, fill them with 50% vodka. It should prevent freezing. Actually, another big worry for you is the through hulls. If they freeze, they can crack open and then when they unfreeze — instant sinking...

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Lighthouse Landing is a very nice marina on Kentucky Lake, but usually has a waiting list for slips. Green Turtle Bay is across the road on Barkley. Both are nice and they are easy to get to from the interstate.

I called lighthouse and they said that they were full and that thier waiting list was full and they had quit taking names. I Called Green Turtle bay also and they acted like they may have something available soon. I liked the look of Green Turtle bay for thier location and ammenities. I hope to get a slot there. I'm traveling to Cedar Park, OH next weekend to look at the boat. I imagine that I will buy the boat at that time barring any suprises.

I'm looking forward to joining the boating community in that area.
