I like sailing because...

Hey all! In this thread, start a sentence with "I like sailing because..." and end it in a way nobody else has mentioned. If you want, elaborate and carry on.

I like sailing because I like to feel in touch with the wind.

I like sailing because I love to harness the power of the wind and use a natural way to propell my boat

i like sailing because there is nothing quite as cathartic as the sound of the waves lapping against the hull as you glide through the water under a blanket of stars, a cool breeze in your face, and a trail of luminescent jellyfish in your wake.

By three methods we may learn wisdom: first, by reflection, which is noblest, second is by imitation, which is easiest, third is by experience, which is the bitterest.

I love sailing because we harness and work with mother nature rather than powering over or thru her. Not to mention the romantacism, beauty and grace exuded by sailing vessels of all kinds (well, mostly).

I like sailing because there is nothing more awesome than harnessing nature-in-the-raw, nothing more exhilerating than being at the mercy of the ocean, nothing more wonderful than the sound of the wind through the rigging or the water running along the hull, and nothing more wonderful than lack of engine noise!

I like sailing because....

the tranquility, the silence, the power of the wind and the solitude. Just me, our boat, the water and the wind.

... and the Cuban

We are not primarily on earth to see through one another, but to see one another through

Some people are like slinkies: not really good for anything... but you can't help laughing when you push them down the stairs

. . . it's a rush to push 9 tons of boat across the water by using only your brain, some wind and derivatives of ancient technology.

I like sailing because to harness the water and wind takes skill that using a noisy power boat does not. Sailing is more a thinking man's form of transportation, as it takes skill, and thought, since you often aren't just able to point the boat where you want to go to get where you're going.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
