My gal has a weak arm. We have sometimes rigged a heavy line run from bow to stern. Used it as a brace for her feet pushing it out away from the dingy as she uses the legs to push the body up and over the tube.
No ladder necessary. The traditional way is to take a full breath to create buoyancy, grab the top of the tube, push yourself down in the water as far as you can, pull up as quickly as you can and kick your legs as to offset some of your weight, while you push down on the tube and lift your torso up until your elbows lock. Then just roll over the top of the tube. If you're good enough at it, you can actually twist and sit on the tube, but rolling in is pretty easy.
Thanks... I didn't do much research and thought what a great idea! A simple DIY rope ladder should perform as well as this product.
Presently I don't have an inflatable dinghy and have never had the need. We use a couple of solo kayaks we strap to the stanchions/lifelines and use these when we can't get to a slip/dock. Kayaking is fun when we're out together but a small dinghy/2-3 HP combo is something we'd like to get in the future but no need for it at the present.
Rope ladders are about useless. Your legs go under the boat. That's why the up and out worked. Stiff. I've got one.
