26-40ft Offshore racing sailboats

In the continual search for "the boat" I thought it would be interesting to see what production boats are used or have been used in past races. I have really tried to search the net for lists of boat types that competed in the big races (Ostar (transat), Transpac, ect). I always end up with the boats name and the skippers but nothing else. Does anyone know where I could find a list? I am sure a lot of the boats racing nowadays aren't production but I would still like to examine their characteristics. Obviously, the guys dropped a lot of money and have a lot of skill so the boats should reflect that...sound reasoning? Ok well thanks for the help!

While the big races use custom boats that cost the same as the gdp of a small country like Swineophilus, you could look at the results of races like Annapolis to Bermuda, Galveston to Veracruz, Mackinaw, Harvest Moon etc... but I think you will not have the skippers and how serious they are factored into just a list of what boats were winners.
