Why was I banned ?????

I don't understand ?

I posted two responses to topics during the night as wind_magic, the name I signed up as earlier this year ... one post in response to someone's question, and another on the topic of pressure cookers in the provisioning forum. I spent a long time writing both of the posts, thought they were both insightful, and thought the pressure cooking was unique and interesting. I would hope that one would be helpful to others as it detailed what I think is a novel way of cooking with a pressure cooker, I was kind of proud of it. I come back to the forum to see the responses and I've been banned from the site! What the hell for ?!?!

I know someone had posted pornography links in the thread I was responding to in the Cruising forum but I wasn't responding to it, I was responding to someone who asked about pack ice. The person who responded after me complained about the pornography links and marked the post above mine as spam. But what the hell does that have to do with me ? Why was I banned ?

Those were only my second and third post at this site since I signed up in June and I am feeling VERY UNWELCOME HERE. Surely if you want me to leave all you have to do is ban me again and I won't return, there are other sailing forums on the Internet, and I rarely ever visit here as it is. But I would like to know WHY I was banned, because I do make recommendations to others to visit here because I assumed it was a good site, and I can certainly stop doing that if I perceive there is some kind of a weird element here that just goes around banning people from the site for no reason.

Feathers are definitely ruffled here!

wind_magic,
I was the one who reported the porno spam posted in the pack ice thread, just before your post. I do recall your post as being well written and on topic. For some reason, my post was deleted also (along with yours and the porn post).

The only explaination I can see, is an inadvertant multiple post deletion and banning of "wind_magic" by either the moderator or administrator.

WhatHappened...Sorry for the trouble. I deleted the spam that was diectly above your post but your post was deleted by a different site function and TrueBlue's report of spam had no effect. I've asked Admin Jeff to look into the problem and report back to you and see if we can get this straightened out.
Sorry for the problem & hopefully we'll get to the bottom of it quickly.

Were you wearing stripes with plaids when you posted those two items?

Sounds inadvertent to me. Give the good Sailnet folks a chance to make it right.

Hey, well, I guess that's cool then ... I'm cool with it now. I was just kind of freaked out because I got banned and I thought it was intentional. But as long as it was mistake I'm alright with it. I would like to see my pressure cooker post go back up on the Provisioning forum though. I do understand the need to weed out spam on the board and I'm glad someone is doing that, I wish other boards would do more of that ... moderators are a good thing. Thanks for trying to get it fixed.

Whathappened.

Please accept my humblest apologies. I want back and looked at what originally posted in that thread and I inadvetently click on your post as spam (which banned you) - it was a mistake on my part and for this I apologize.

If you like I will delete your current profile and reinstate your old user name.

let me know what yo'd like me to do.

again - please accept my apoligies for this mistake.

Hey Jeff,

Yeah that'd be great if you could give me my old account back. It was "wind_magic". Thanks a lot. :)

Under two hours to sort that mistake out...any guesses on how long it would take if this was a government site?

I hate it when I spend a long time replying to a post - wherever - and then 'cause of some computer/page display I lose it. As a result, I do a quick "Select All-Copy" and trow it into a word.doc and then hit reply - if it posts then I'm finbe - if not, I open up a reply page and recopy the post and try again.

Interesting, I also had some posts not make it to the site, even though, I previewed them before submitting. I didn't think much of it until now. Maybe there is something on the go with the proliferation of spam etc.
