Your other post said that the boat is missing its centerboard completely. In this one you asked about the cost of refitting. If you are having to replace a missing center board, that could be expensive.
There was a discussion on here the other day about having to have a new rudder made for a boat. That was pretty expensive for just a rudder.
Yeah, I figured it might be costly. The owner said it sailed good without it but also admitted he was new to sailing. Plus only sailed in galveston bay. Shallow bay. thanks for your input. Have looked at many boats this year. My funds are limited so -----.
My centerboard had been shortened, so this winter I'm lengthening it with the shipwright for my 29 footer..
To get 3/4'' of fiberglass it takes about 26 sheets of matting in my extension.
Sounds as if you have to make the complete board.
I won't be adding back the lead we removed, because the new extension weighs as much as the lead.
I guess a centerboard for a 32' could be 2 feet by 6 feet long or larger.
The Boat sounds pretty neglected if the CB is just gone. Maybe backing from a hard grounding broke it off but there is usually lots of warning when not abused.
My old Bristol 26 had a steel plate. I realized I could have just had a new one flame cut for one boat unit rather than the extensive resurfacing I did in reality.
A board will need a pivot, hoist system, and some system for lateral aignment. If most of at is in place, the iron plate is cheap.
Another thread said you can find all the centerboard specs on the Irwin Owners website.
I would recommend all fiberglass. No core.
