Ketch Rigging Term

Greetings Everyone! Pardon my ignorance but I've been a lifelong sloop sailor/owner. I just purchased a ketch and the stay between the top of the mizzen to the top of the main masts is a bit loose. Could anyone tell me the name of this? I've heard it termed a "triatica". Is this correct? Thanks!

it is generally called a triatic stay.

Today may be my day SD. Smashed my ankle sailing back to Sydney last week so having a few days off work. Nothing to do but this, eating and reading. Damn sailing boats can be painful at times.

Just curious... but how did you smash your ankle on a sailboat???

Plattyo 01-19-2007 12:47 AM

Thanks folks! Sorry about the ankle.

Relatively decent swell, didn't see a wave coming and was thrown across the cockpit. Didn't break it just mashed my ankle against the seat edge then in falling down scrapped the skin off my shin. Nothing major but doc told me to keep it elevated for a couple of days. Any excuse for a couple of days of pure indolence.

Ouch... and keep the weight off of it so it can get better.. :D
