My wife left me :(

Is that topic too alarmist in nature?

She left me for 7 days to go to Ft. Lauderdale to Bluewater Sailing School to take ASA 101/103 + Intro to cruising. I'm up here in a 4 degree wasteland with 35mph winds and windchills of 24 below, and she's going to be sailing for a week in 85 degree temps!!!! What a .. err.. can't go there.

Apparently, she wants to know more than me come launchtime this Spring. That's fine. I'll just take the blender I got her for Christmas and whip MYSELF up a Margarita, and then lie down in the hammock I bought her! Grrrr.

OK.. I'm done venting. Thanks for listening. I'm off to stare at pics of our boat up on the hard.

Yeah... perhaps a bit more explanation... the wife said our boat would truly be like a home once she could make her frozen drinks on board... hence alcohol entices the wife to want to spend more time on the boat, and perhaps to other things later

On my boat the "do things later" would be taking the dogs out for a walk!

Before I was married to my current wife, I had a really hot girlfriend with a good job, alot of money, well educated, nice to be around, and a nice house. She did not like sailing and gave me the ultimatum of her or the boat...one would have to go. Gee, I wonder how she is doing these days. The boat is doing fine.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Labatt,

Too bad. My wife keeps threatening me that she is going to go to this risque Men's Club in Ft. Lauderdale that masquerades as a sailing school if I am not not nice. I do not find her humor funny. Nice to hear they have good sailing schools for women out there. I am sure you checked it out thoroughly before letting her go. Well, whatever you do, don't let her go to the Bluewater Sailing School in Ft. Lauderdale unless you want her leaving you for another man and bigger boat.

- CD

PS Which sailing school did you say she was going to?
