SF bay - lost boat

A day sailing trip to the Farallon Islands to scatter his mother's ashes...
...left early Sunday in his 40-foot C&C yacht, Tenacious, from a marina near San Francisco's Fort Mason.

He's not necessarily lost... he is missing and presumed lost. There's a huge difference. It doesn't sound like the weather has been a factor, other than the temperature, the weather seems to be relatively benign.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

My friend Bruce and I were out in the Bay this AM (see photo gallery). What a beautiful day. We heard the "pan pan" go out. Very sad, I hope they find him, but its been two days now.

"(Sergey)Brin was exploring whether recent satellite imagery provided for the company's popular Google Earth mapping software could be used to spot Gray's boat, a Google spokeswoman said."

That was very interesting to me. Could predict the type of navigation aids that we will all have available someday.
