Alive and well after the storms

Help needed for storm victims..... We could use any old or dammaged sails to cover household items left out in the weather and unprotected.. The Daytona area was hit twice in one month by killer tornadoes and we have many displaced familys....

While this sounds like a good thing, I would feel much more comfortable if the phone number came back to a government location, rather than an unknown listing... especially given the poster is purported to be a fireman.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Saildog.... Sorry that you choose to find a problem with my post.. Not all help comes from the government thank God.. Our church has done a lot for storm victims and there ars some of us that are working one on one with some familys to help them out.. And what was that line about fireman?? You sound like a very negetive person and you should keep your remarks to yourself Bob the fireman, retired.....

Well, when I did a reverse lookup on the phone number, it came up as unknown... if this were a legitimate charity, I would imagine that it would have its own phone number listed. If it is a church, why does the phone number not come up to the church in question...

There are a lot of people who use the anonymity of the internet to scam other people in to donating money to them, and the money goes into their pockets...rather than to the cause they say they support. Whether you're asking for cash or for used/damaged sails, it costs people money to donate... at a minimum, whatever the shipping costs on the goods would be... so I tend to be a bit cynical about charities that have unlisted numbers.

I would think the cost of shipping a used sail would be more money than a plastic tarp from Wal-Mart. Actually, a reverse lookup gets you Firemanbob's telephone # so he looks legit to me.

Pigslo, he may have since changed the number since my first post. I should have quoted his message. The number when the message was first posted came us as unknown.
