Your experiences with vessel towing insurance?

Hi, all:

Please excuse the xpost to several boating discussion groups. I'm a freelance writer and cruiser working on a piece about vessel towing insurance. I'm interested in contacting folks who have had their towing insurance cancelled or who were turned down for towing insurance, preferably within the last couple of years.

Thanks for any help or leads you can give me.

You should know there are two types - the generic hull insurance policy with a towing endorsement which is unlikley to ever get canceled for towing claims and the specific tow insurance sold by BoatUS, Seatow et.al.

People who have the latter type canceled likely don't realize that they are being dealt a favor because the cost is typically far more than necessary had they done some homework and included it in their boat policy.

I was cancelled, or rather my vessal, by Boat US, with no explanation. I assumed it was because I grounded a couple too many times as well as an overheat problem...all because I purchased a newer boat with a longer Keel and grounded three times within a four month period? One grounding, and all for that matter, were considered soft tows or just enough to get me out of the muck with one charge for that well over $900 as billed to Boat US by the tow boat...
