Virginia Beach area

Im temporarily in the VB area for the next 2 months and wanted to know if anyone knows of anywhere in the area(Norfolk is close) that I could possibly jump on a race crew on a given weekend?

Shouldn't this be in the Off-topic forum since it really has absolutely nothing to do with sailing.

BTW... Waveshredder, can you elaborate a bit???

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

LOL, that makes a bit more sense now... I was rather confused with you talking about racing cars on a sailing forum.

I'd contact the yatch clubs in the area and see if you can have them put up an "Available for crew" notice for you on their bulletin boards.

Yes, Hampton is just about ten minutes away by car from Newport. I spend a fair bit of time down in that neck of the woods, since my better half was from there.

Both Hampton and Newport NEWS are on the other side of Hampton Roads from Virginia Beach/Norfolk. With the tunnel traffic down there it's not always a fun trip. One idea is to check the crew listings on www.spinsheet.com and see if anyone in Norfolk has posted for crew. Otherwise, call the Norfolk Tennis and Yacht Club and talk to the dockmaster for some ideas. There also are several marinas on Little Creek you could check with.
